A half-mile from the road connecting Merida, the colonial capital of the Yucatan and the Celestun Biosphere Reserve, where the largest American mainland population of pink flamingoes resides is the Hacienda Yokdzonot.
Featured in two major books on the Haciendas of M˙xico, it has also been used for various television dramas and documentaries because of its outstanding landscape gardening and interior design.
The owners, who are Mexican with American and French parents, bought and restored this hacienda ten years ago. To the hacienda they have added the installations for raising and training horses for stadium jumping.
If you would like to experience the elegant atmosphere of hacienda life and at the same time be close to the world famous Maya ruins and natural beauties of Celestun, they are opening their four-bedroom guesthouse as a bed and breakfast.
