1: Arrival and transfer to beach front hotel Eco Paraiso Xixim,
on the west coast of the Yucatan Peninsula. Dinner.
2: Early breakfast and departure for a boat tour of the Celestun
Estuary. Birdwatching including a visit to the world's largest colony
of pink flamingoes. Seafood lunch. Afternoon free to enjoy the beach.
Dinner at hotel Eco Paraiso.
3: Breakfast and departure for the small village of Cepeda, where
we will learn about the sting-less Melipona bee. Yucatecan-style lunch
with a local Maya family. Continue on to the ruins of Oxkintok and
its labyrinth. Overnight at Hotel Hacienda Uxmal.
4: Breakfast followed by visits to the archaeological sites of
Uxmal, Kabah and the Lol-t¯n caves, with opportunity to observe birds
in the surroundings. Lunch at Lol-t¯n. Transfer to Merida. Overnight
at the Hotel Casa del Balam. Dinner.
5: Breakfast and morning free. Airport transfer.
